Beverley Norris has a background in ergonomics and human factors and specialises in design for patient safety. She holds a joint post as Human Factors Lead at the National Patient Safety Agency and Senior Research Fellow at the Helen Hamlyn Centre for Design where she leads the human factors input to the DOME (Designing Out Medical Error) project. Her work at the NPSA involves human factors input into safety issues as wide ranging as patient identification, double checking methodologies, safety briefings and medical devices. She is also responsible for raising the profile of human factors in patient safety.

Beverley has more than 20 years experience in design for safety, with previous experience in consumer safety, child safety and consultancy to the rail industry. She was the lead author on the Adultdata series of publications, one of the major sources of anthropometric data worldwide. She holds degrees from Loughborough University and the University of Nottingham, where she completed her PhD.
