Catherine started at the Helen Hamlyn Centre for Design as Research Associate working on EPSRC/AHRC funded project Welcoming Workplace. Since then her interest in workplace design and design research has led her to work on a variety of academic and commercially partnered projects ranging from those looking at new ways of working to others focusing on Inclusive Design. In her current role as Senior Associate Catherine plays a lead role in the Work and City Lab. Catherine was recently chosen as an outstanding paper award winner at the Literati Network Awards for Excellence 2012 for her paper 'Space for Thought: Designing for knowledge workers' published in the academic journal Facilities.
