Foyerism challenges the conventions of the two-dimensional, programmatically-zoned masterplan, offering instead an enticing four-dimensional, urban topography governed by chance, juxtaposition and surprise, to be explored by the urban 'flaneur'. Camden is blighted by social segregation and school overcrowding. To solve this, the project redevelops the outdoor space of schools in a 'condensed urban playground' between Kings Cross and St Pancras stations. Centralised sports facilities, arcades and performance spaces are used to activate the public realm, (re)creating 'place'.
