Kay Sandford holds a BA (Hons) in French and Russian from Bristol University and a Postgraduate Diploma in Decorative Arts from the University of Glasgow. After graduating, she began her career within the Public Relations section of the British Museum and from there moved to business management roles at Bonhams Auctioneers.
After a career break teaching Business English in Prague during 2003, she returned to London, joining Antenna Audio as Client Services Manager, leading on the implementation of interpretative audio and multimedia tours to clients including Historic Royal Palaces, the British Library, the National Trust and Tate Modern.
Kay spent over three and a half years at Tate as Head of Development Operations, with responsibility for financial planning, database development, donor relations and donor research. She joined the Royal College of Art in 2008 and is responsible for managing the financial, operational and contractual aspects of the Helen Hamlyn Centre for Design and InnovationRCA.
